Look Back, Look Ahead

The Week That Was:

The FC Tampa Bay Rowdies played two home games this week  at Steinbrenner Field. The game against the Carolina RailHawks on Wednesday ended in a disappointing 2-1 defeat. Ricardo Sanchez scored the lone Rowdies goal, which raised his season total to four goals in seven games, making him the second highest scorer on the team, behind Aaron King who was out for the past two matches with a hamstring injury.

However, the Rowdies bounced back on Sunday with a 2-2 tie after overcoming a 2-0 deficit against AC St. Louis. FC Tampa Bay managed to overcome a controversial fifth minute own goal with a 43rd minute goal from Jonny Steele and a late stoppage time goal from substitute Yendry Diaz. The tie gave the Rowdies a crucial point in the playoff race but they are still behind NSC Minnesota Stars, who are in eighth place in the USSF D-2 standings. The Rowdies and Stars are tied in points with 28 but Minnesota leads the series with two wins over Tampa's one win which keeps them ahead in playoff position.

The Week To Come:

The Rowdies have a full week of practice ahead of them preparing for their next match on September 11th against the Rochester Rhinos. The Rhinos are the currently the number one seed in both the USSF D-2 standings and the USL Conference standings with 48 points and have clinched a playoff spot.
