Other News and Notes

  • Vancouver's two newest signings: Mouloud Akloul, a French Center Back and Marcus Haber, a Vancouver native who returns to the Whitecaps on loan from England's West Brom (a club that just secured promotion to the Premier League for next season) should both be availible for selection this Saturday in Fort Lauderdale versus Miami FC. Tickets for the match at Lockhart Stadium are availible here.
  • Takashi Hirano and Jonny Steele will not travel with the Whitecaps to Florida to face Miami FC.
  • Whitecaps FC prospect Yassin Essa has been selected for the upcoming Canada U-17 National Team camp in Omaha, Nebraska.
  • Miami FC has named Zach Kirby the club's captain for the 2010 season.
  • Josh Lambo has returned to FC Tampa Bay Rowdies after spending last weekend with FC Dallas. Lambo is on a season long loan from the MLS club to the Rowdies. 
  • Crystal Palace Baltimore Forward Jordan Seabrook has the latest entry to his blog. Palace Baltimore opens its 2010 season Friday night at 7:00 pm ET versus Tampa Bay at UMBC Stadium. Tickets are availible here.
  • AC St Louis plays its first ever home game on Saturday night versus the Austin Aztex, who are coming off a 2-0 win over Montreal. Tickets for the home opener can be purchased here. 
  • Mike Ambersley, who played last season with the Rochester Rhinos has joined his hometown team, AC St Louis.
  • NSC Minnesota plays the second game of a cross continent three match road trip to start the season Friday night against Carolina at Wake Med Soccer Park. Tickets are availible here. The Stars conclude the road trip on Wednesday against the Puerto Rico Islanders.
  • Bob Lilley's Rochester Rhinos head to Portland for Saturday night's match against the Timbers. Lilley's last game in charge of Vancouver in 2007 was a first round playoff loss to the Timbers. Rochester drew its opening match of the season in Fort Lauderdale against Miami FC.
