What’s at Stake:

Every game is crucial now as the USSF D-2 Pro League playoffs draw nearer.  The Rowdies are one point short of a qualifying spot.  With five home games remaining, the Rowdies are in a good position to make a late season run.

Previous Meeting:

The Rowdies and RailHawks previously met on May 14 in Cary, North Carolina.  RailHawks striker Gregory Richardson converted a penalty kick in the 42nd minute to give Carolina a 1-0 halftime lead.  A dominating second half performance saw the Rowdies get goals in the 61st minute from Joe Donoho and 84th minute from Aaron Wheeler for a 2-1 Rowdies victory.

Team Notes:

The Rowdies have scored 30 goals this season, which ranks as the third-highest total in the league. FC Tampa Bay has scored 11 of those goals in its last six matches.

Led by goalkeeper Eric Reed, the RailHawks defense has been among the league's stingiest this season.  Carolina has allowed just 23 goals in 22 games, the fourth-fewest in the league.  Reed’s 0.888 goals against average ranks fifth-best.

Individual Notes:

Having scored five goals in the last six games, Rowdies forward Aaron King has moved to third in the USSF D-2 rankings with nine goals on the season.  King trails Austin’s Eddie Johnson by one goal and Portland’s Ryan Pore by four goals. King's team-high 18 points in 2010 rank fifth in the league.

Carolina forward Etienne Barbara leads the team with six goals and 14 points, both tied for eighth-best in the league.

The Playoff Picture:

FC Tampa Bay currently sits in ninth in the USSF D-2 single table standings.  The Montreal Impact is just one point clear of the Rowdies but have played one more game.  Seventh-place NSC Minnesota is also just one point ahead of FC Tampa Bay but has played two more games.

Montreal will host the league-leading Rochester Rhinos on Friday night while Minnesota’s next game isn’t until September 4th, when they will have to travel to Austin.
