Rowdies Take On Rochester Rhinos

The Basics:
FC Tampa Bay Rowdies (6-9-10, 6th in USL Conference) vs. Rochester Rhinos (14-6-6, 2nd in USL Conference)

Saturday, September 11th, 7 p.m.

Marina Auto Stadium, Rochester, New York

This is the second and final meeting of the regular season between the teams. Rochester won the first meeting 1-0 in Tampa on July 22nd.

Broadcast Info:

The match will be carried live on www.fctampabay.com.

What’s at Stake:

With five games remaining in the regular season, FC Tampa Bay is just outside of a playoff position by virtue of Minnesota holding a tiebreaker over the Rowdies.  Rochester has already officially clinched a playoff spot and will likely receive the third seed once the playoffs begin.

Previous Meeting:

A 91st minute goalkeeping error gifted Rochester a 1-0 win on July 22nd at Steinbrenner Field.  An errant goal kick gave Andrew Hoxie and Isaac Kissi a two-on-one situation against Daryl Sattler.  Kissi put in the goal that cost the Rowdies a point against the Rhinos.

Individual Notes:

Justin Morrow could make his FC Tampa Bay debut in this game.  The former Notre Dame defender was acquired on loan from the San Jose Earthquakes this week.

Rhinos goalkeeper Troy Roberts has played 2,344 minutes in D-2 play this year, the most minutes of any player in the league.

After missing the last two games due to a hamstring injury, Rowdies striker Aaron King will look to add to his goal tally.  King’s nine goals this season are third best in the league.

Noteworthy Stat:

Despite the Rhinos currently sitting third in the playoff standings, and the Rowdies sitting ninth, FC Tampa Bay has actually scored one more goal than Rochester this season.

NSC Minnesota currently holds the tiebreaker over FC Tampa Bay due to head-to-head results.  The Stars have beaten the Rowdies 1-0 twice this season in Minnesota, with the Rowdies earning a 2-1 victory in their meeting in Tampa.  The Stars will visit for a crucial game on September 24th.  FC Tampa Bay also has the advantage of having played one less game than the Stars.
