The Playoff Push Continues vs. Montreal

The Basics:

FC Tampa Bay Rowdies (6-10-11, 6th in USL Conference) at Montreal Impact (9-11-7, 3rd in NASL Conference)

Sunday, September 19th, 2:00 p.m.

Stade Saputo, Montreal, Quebec

This is the second and final meeting between the teams. Montreal knocked off the Rowdies, 2-1, on June 12 in Tampa.

Broadcast Info:

The match will be broadcast live on www.fctampabay.com.

What’s at Stake:

In their last road trip of the regular season, the Rowdies will look to build on their draw with Austin as they continue to work towards the playoffs.

Previous Meeting:

On June 12 in Tampa, the Impact earned a 2-1 victory over the Rowdies in their only previous meeting of the season. Goals from Peter Byers and Roberto Brown, both of whom are no longer with the Impact, gave Montreal a 2-0 lead. An Aaron King goal in the 70th minute gave FC Tampa Bay hope, but it could not score again and fell 2-1.

Individual Notes:

Aaron King’s late goal against Austin was his team-best 10th of the season. Only two players in the league, Portland’s Ryan Pore (15) and Austin’s Eddie Johnson (13), have scored more goals than King.

In a three-game stretch between August 21 and September 8, Impact midfielder Ali Gerba tallied six goals, including a hat trick vs. Crystal Palace Baltimore. Gerba has six goals on the season.

Impact defender Simon Gatti will miss the remainder of the season due to hernia surgery. Gatti saw action in 18 games for Montreal this season.

Noteworthy Stat:

Rowdies midfielder Takuya Yamada will miss this match due to a one-game suspension after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season on Thursday. Yamada picked up his fourth caution of the season against Montreal on June 12. He played 1,107 minutes between his fourth and fifth yellow cards.
